Mary Elizabeth Mullikin Obituary Camden SC: Lobbyist and Health Care Attorney Passes Away

Mary Elizabeth Mulliken Obituary Camden SC: The sudden death of Mary Elizabeth Mullikin, a well-respected lobbyist and health care attorney, has left the South Carolina State House in shock and prompted an outpouring of grief across the Palmetto State.

Mullikin, 38, a native of Camden, South Carolina, passed away early Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, from a reported cardiac event linked to an undisclosed bacterial disease.

At the time of her passing, Mullikin was serving as the top lobbyist and general counsel for Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, the state’s largest health insurance provider. She was also the daughter of Tom Mullikin, a prominent military leader recently appointed as the director of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) just two months ago.

In a deeply emotional email sent to family and friends on Sunday, Tom Mullikin described his daughter’s unexpected passing. He wrote, “My life will be forever changed. She was my heart. Watching her die is unexplainable. Giving your child her last rights is something I pray you will never experience.”

He went on to reflect on the 38 years of joy he shared with his daughter, adding, “I am devastated but know the Lord will carry me along.”

Just days before her passing, on Thursday, March 27, 2025, Mullikin was at the South Carolina State House, representing Blue Cross Blue Shield in important legislative matters.

Before her role at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mullikin had a distinguished career as an associate at the Mullikin Law Firm in Camden. She also spent three years working in the White House’s advance office under President George W. Bush.

A graduate of the Charleston School of Law, Mullikin earned her undergraduate degree in business from the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business.

FITSNews will continue to monitor and provide updates on any further details regarding Mullikin’s passing. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.
